Says a headline on De Telegraaf this morning, a well-known newspaper/website about the tremendous 3-0 win over Italy last night on the Euro 2008. On the right bottom there’s another eye catchy headline “Goed gedaan Papa” or good job dad! Featuring Edwin van der Sar and his son, ooohhhh..who wouldn’t fall for that cute photo?
Tell you the truth; I underestimated the oranje team yesterday. I even thought the best was if the game ended in a draw. I even missed the live relay of the match, because I thought it wasn’t worth wasting my sleeping time, but the oranje really surprise me this time. They beat Italy 3-0 and made the world champion look like a clown.
With their superstar team consisting: Ruud van Nistelroy, Edwin van der Sar, Robin van Persie, Wesley Sneijder, etc, each of them are big players in top clubs, The Oranje took the crowd by storm started by Ruud van Nistelroy’s goal, which the Italian team called an offside, and the Italian team just fall apart since then…continued by a second goal from Wesley Sneijder and the last goal by Giovanni van Bronkhorst, a defender with Maluku’s descendent.
Funny thing is during the world cup 2006, never once did I wish them a win, eventhough I was in the Netherlands during that time…watching people in their oranje outfit rushing their bike to the nearest café to watch the game together, but now being away from it all I put sympathy to the guys and wishing them well…what an irony…I can imagine the celebrations on the cafes last night...
I’d like to congrats the jongens for a very good start! You guys prove that being an underdog or even called a ‘skinny cricket’ by the Italian press doesn’t stop you from winning and proving yourself…when you do your best and play with your heart, anything get in between can be run down…even a world champion …Proost! and good luck on the next games jongens!
